Mary Welch
Mary has 3 decades of experience in child care and teaching. She has directed several quality programs throughout the Bay area. She is the past president of the National Parenting Education Center and has conducted numerous workshops and seminars in parent education for corporations including Hewlett Packard and El Camino Hospital. She wrote the PRACTICAL PARENTING WORKBOOK and had a parenting column in INFANTS TO TEENS MAGAZINE. She served on the Napa County Child Care Planning Council and was a foster parent with ALDEA for several years. She has been honored by the Napa County Commission on the Status of Women for her work with children and she teaches fine art in the Alta Heights Elementary after-school program. She and Ray were delegates to the World Forum on Early Care and Education which was held in Athens in 2000. Her hobbies include cooking, painting, blogging, and playing with Andy, her wonderful poodle-mix dog.

Ray Welch
Ray Welch was raised in a small town in Connecticut
and moved to California in 1976 after getting his BS
degree from the University of Connecticut. He was a
Boy Scout and had starring roles in Fiddler on the Roof
and Damn Yankees in school. After managing several different
clothing stores, Ray joined Mary to help run their joint
dream—Children's Cottage Child Care. Ray has been
happily married to his wife Mary Welch for 25 years.
They have 3 children—Megan, a Yosh trained hair
stylist working at Iveta's in the Napa Town Center.

Welch is a graduate from UC Santa Cruz in 2005 and received
her teaching credential from San Francisco State in
2006. She teaches the private kindergarten at Children's
Cottage. Adam works at Press Restaurant in St. Helena,
serving the best food and wine in the Napa Valley.
